Indexable carbide inserts
Optimized insert geometry for smooth cutting, strong edge support and reliable chip control. Multiple grades are available for steel (P), stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K).Rigid alloy steel body
Heat-treated tool bodies with high pocket accuracy ensure stable clamping and consistent run-out, even under heavy side milling.Multiple shank options
Straight shank and Weldon shank are available to match ER collets, hydraulic chucks or side-lock holders.Lower cost per edge
Multi-edge inserts (2–4 edges per insert, depending on type) help reduce tool cost and machine downtime compared with solid end mills.

Focus Model: 12mm Indexable End Mill
The HNCarbide 12mm indexable end mill is designed as a versatile “workhorse” for day-to-day milling tasks.
Main Advantages
Compact and rigid
12 mm diameter offers a good balance between rigidity and accessibility, suitable for small pockets, steps and shoulders.
Flexible insert choice
Steel: TiAlN / AlTiN coated inserts with strong cutting edges
Stainless steel: High-positive, sharp geometry to reduce cutting force
Cast iron: Wear-resistant grade for long tool life
Clean 90° shoulders
With 90° insert geometry, the 12mm indexable end mill can produce accurate vertical walls for steps and pockets.
Stable chip evacuation
Optimized chip space and positive rake help evacuate chips even at higher feed rates, reducing the risk of built-up edge and vibration.
Typical Applications
- Shoulder milling on steel and stainless steel parts
- Slotting and side milling of plates and blocks
- Contour and pocket milling in general engineering
- Roughing and semi-finishing before final solid end mill finishing (if required)
Recommended Starting Cutting Data for 12mm Indexable End Mill
(General reference only. Final parameters depend on your actual machine, setup and insert grade.)
Material: Medium carbon steel (e.g. C45)
- Cutting speed (Vc): 150–220 m/min
- Spindle speed: approx. 4000–5000 rpm
- Feed per tooth (fz): 0.05–0.10 mm/tooth
- Axial depth of cut (ap): 0.5–1.0 × D(6–12 mm)
- Radial depth of cut (ae): 0.2–0.5 × D(2.4–6 mm)
For stainless steel, use sharp M-grade inserts, slightly lower cutting speed and feed, and sufficient coolant.
If you share your machine model, workpiece material and typical operation, HNCarbide can recommend optimized parameters for your 12mm indexable end mill.
